If rooms in your Santa Rosa home feel hot, it is tempting to choose one fix: more insulation or more roof vents. Neither should be selected without understanding the attic and roof arrangement. Comfort problems can involve several parts of the home.
Begin with the symptoms you actually notice. Is one room uncomfortable or the whole house? Did the problem change after insulation, HVAC, or roofing work? Is there visible moisture as well as heat? Those details help direct the right assessment.
Ask what kind of assembly you have
A vented attic is not the same as an unvented roof assembly. The location of insulation and the intended airflow paths affect how the system should work. Ask the contractor to identify the arrangement before proposing new vents or insulation.
